Buying a digital piano & keyboard on Black Friday: what really gets cheaper

Late November is the biggest buying season for instruments – Christmas casts its shadow, the shops throw percentages around. Here is the honest assessment of what is really in it with keyboard instruments and how not to get taken for a ride.

What realistically gets cheaper – and what doesn’t

The sober truth: the sought-after entry-level 88s (P-145, FP-10, ES-120) are tightly calculated all year – here 10–15 % off is already a very good Black Friday deal; more is rare. Considerably more movement happens with keyboards, previous-year and run-out models (when a successor is announced, the predecessor often drops 20–30 %) and with bundles (instrument + stand + bench + headphones), where the package price is the real saving.

The strike-through price trap

“RRP €799 – now only €599!” is the oldest trick of the season: the recommended retail price often has nothing to do with the real market price, which already sat at €620 in October. A discount only counts against the real price history – therefore: fix your desired model NOW and watch its price over weeks, don’t look only on the promotion day.

The timeline

The promotions long stopped starting on the Friday: from mid-November, “early deals” run, and Cyber Week stretches into early December. If you wait for a specific model: the best price often falls before the actual Black Friday – and popular entry models are regularly sold out in December. Better to take a good price than to wait for the perfect one and come away empty in January.
